Nairobi, Kenya July 9 2019–Onkar Rai has purchased a brand new VW Polo R5, the first car of its kind in Kenya after his other ride, the Skoda Fabia R5 which is also a similar model driven by Africa champion Manvir Baryan.
Rai who performed exceptionally well in this year’s Safari before retiring the Skoda due to mechanical problems is expected to add flavour at the top tier competition in the remaining rounds of the KCB National Rally Championship.
He is expected to be co-driven by Gavin Lawrence and fly the Kabras Sugar Racing Team livery. His other team mates are Safari champion Baldev Chager (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X) and Tejvir Rai. Last year’s Safari champion Carl Tundo and Eric Benji form the larger Kabras Sugar/Menengai Oil team.
